Publication requirement (important)
Most New York LLCs must, within 120 days after the Articles become effective:
- Publish a formation notice in two newspapers designated by the county clerk (one daily, one weekly) for six consecutive weeks.
- File a Certificate of Publication with affidavits and a $50 DOS filing fee.
Newspaper costs vary widely by county (often hundreds to over a thousand dollars in some counties). Failure to publish and file on time can suspend authority to do business until cured.

Registered agent
New York LLCs designate the Secretary of State as agent for service of process and must provide a New York address for mailing process. An optional registered agent may also be appointed.
